Pigs + Pork
Pork is a family favorite for Vietnamese in Hanoi. It is paradise for the pork-lover, as they throw it in almost anything.
If you don’t eat it; check out the salads before you tuck in as many have it in. Ordering a separate meal is the best plan of attack even at 5-star hotels.
The surprising thing about pigs in Hanoi is the way they transport them. I have no idea how you would even catch a pig and tie it up, but it is done. This photo is taken outside of Hanoi as I was never able to be at the right place at the right time with my camera out, but can be seen sometimes when coming back from the airport.
I have seen trailers with cages with one gigantic pig inside, looks like the daddies of a million pigs making their way to meet their new lover.
