The Vietnamese are very health conscious people.
Very little obesity exists and we hope it is going to stay that way !!
People exercise everywhere, for more photos check out Hoan Kiem Lake section, most of these photos were taken around the Truc Bach Lake area as I lived there.
Early mornings are busy on the streets from 5am, ‘if you snooze you lose’, so get up early and join the fun !!

Badminton

Early morning and at night parking spots, parts of marks, sides of the road transform into badminton courts and is a popular game in Hanoi.
Hacky Sack
A popular game which needs no court, can be place with 2 or more people and an easy item to carry around with you. Games pop up everywhere.
This game like hacki-sack is played with a shuttle cock that has a long or short cylinder like base then feathers at the end. Keeping the shuttle cock going takes much skill as you have to use any part of your body other than your hands.

Walking
Getting up early and going for a walk around a park or lake is considered a daily practice like cleaning ones teeth. Mostly people from the age of 35 upwards take to the streets keeping fit in the morning; during other times people from all ages hit the streets.
As walkers hit the streets sometimes it becomes congested like the roads.

Gym

These outside gyms start at around 5.30am and by 7.30am they are closed, during the day they are gone and you could wonder if you imagination is playing tricks on you.

No sign of safety equipment here, but still gym goers put themselves through vigorous routines.

5am the gym is set up and ready to go. As the day goes on a small teashop appears, a barber opens shop, motorbike taxi drivers arrive and wait for customers, so this corner is a hive of activity all day long.
Numerous trees around have strategically placed branches that are well worn from exercise buffs.
